We have had a significant increase in scam emails containing dangerous attachments.
Whilst invoices are a common tactic with scammers there is an increase in spoofing addresses so they appear to originate from a contact or company that you know.
Please treat all attachments with extreme caution and if you have any doubt, contact the sender directly to confirm it is legitimate before opening, or contact the helpdesk and we will assist.

Capita identified a problem with the CTF import in a previous release of SIMS that could result in pre-admission pupils being linked to the wrong contact or an incorrect address. This issue has been resolved in the Summer Release of SIMS that is being rolled out to all our customers. Following the upgrade there is a Diagnostic patch and script that can be run to check if any data within SIMS has been effected by this error. Cygnet are running this script for all our SIMS Schools and we will contact schools directly if we identify any issues. An email has been sent to all schools to provide more details regarding this but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call on 020-8619 1200

Below please find a message from LGfL CEO, John Jackson:
There is an important opportunity for schools to have a say on a one-off focus group to share their thoughts on online safety with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, which is working on the consultation around the Green Paper that will lead to the government’s Internet Safety Strategy. We have been asked to help gather a representative group of educationalists, and think this will be a good opportunity for those who can attend.
A session for Primary school staff will take place in Central London on December 6 (Wed) at 4pm; the equivalent for Secondary colleagues will be on December 12 (Tues) at 4pm. Both sessions will take no longer than 1.5 hours.
We would be hugely grateful if you could circulate this to school-based colleagues (we are looking for classroom teachers, online safety coordinators, DSLs, Headteachers, other SLT members, network managers), we would be most appreciative. Schools which take part will be credited for their contribution to the consultation, and it will be a valuable opportunity to have a say on a strategy that will have a major impact on schools (and beyond).
